Positive: Beautiful property, spacious rooms. High quality food, appreciated the variety of options on site. Spa was excellent, so much so that we returned. Staff were extremely welcoming and worked tirelessly to make our stay special. Sunset yoga was great. Appreciated the golf carts to move us around. Welcome gift of Prosecco, fresh fruit and pastries. Guests were all very respectful of each other, no issues with noise and disruption. Loved the private waterfall pool, though in September we didn’t get all day sun and went down to the pool after midday.

Negative: Wasps. Ridiculous that they were allowed to become such a problem, a real blight for breakfast and made sitting outside to eat awful. Not just a problem around the buffet, they are also terrible around the cocoon bar. Staff did respond very proactively to our complaints about the wasps and we appreciated the various gestures made. Ultimately we found ways of dealing with the problem, I don’t think the gestures made up for the wasps. Some easily resolved wear and tear issues that do impact the perception of the hotel. At times it feels like a hotel that was special, rather than one that’s being maintained. Stone steps in the waterfall pool are very sharp-edged. Be careful! All food is expensive, and while it is high quality, you need to descend the hill to find more reasonably priced food. Personally I’d like a cheap and cheerful option on site. People left their welcome gifts outside, sometimes without touching them, and it took a long time for the fruit to be retrieved from the hot sun.
