Rose of Crete is a sanctuary of serenity, a two-acre compound nestled in the beautiful countryside, surrounded by olive groves with breathtaking views to the sea below and the mountains above.
You enter the property by passing a long driveway surrounded by olive trees on both sides, each tree carefully tended to in order to produce the finest extra virgin olive oil each winter.
At the base of the driveway, you will find a small chapel proudly built to honor by the property owners father to honor his mother and father. It was a collaboration of all his siblings- from the painting of the icons to the finishing touch of hanging the bell atop the chapel.
Alongside the chapel, there is a traditional wood-burning oven (fourno in Greek) that is heated with olive wood from the pruned trees. Today this oven is used more for special occasions with slow roasts than for the traditional baking of bread. The flavor of the food is like no other! A special dinner using this oven can be arranged upon request.
As you explore the surrounding landscape, you will find approximately 17 different fruit trees planted around the property, much to Yiannis pride.
